Every year CFTRI Alumni Association institutes award to meritorious M.Sc. (Food Technology) Students. This year the award ceremony function was held on 10th July 2013. The Chief Guest of the function Sri Umakant Gupte, Vice President, MTR Foods, Bangalore, presented the awards to meritorious students. Prof. Ram Rajasekharan, Director, CSIR-CFTRI presided over the function.

CFTRI Alumni Association bids farewell to M.Sc. Food Technology Students (2011-2013)
The CFTRI Alumni Association organized a farewell get-together for the outgoing students of M.Sc. Food Tech. 2011-13 batch on 8th July 2013, at Assembly hall. Prof. Ram Rajasekharan, Director, CSIR-CFTRI presided over the function. Mr. G. A. Krishna, Hon. Secretary of the Association welcomed the Director Prof. Ram Rajasekharan, Dr. G. Vijayalakshmi HRD Coordinator and Warden IFTTC, Dr. M.C. Varadaraj, Chief Scientist and other alumni members and students present during the occasion. Mr. Krishna wished all the very best to the outgoing students. Dr. Sridevi A. Singh, Jt. Secretary gave a brief about the activity of the Association and made a power point presentation, wherein she projected the photographs taking the audience down the memory lane. She also showed some of the alumnus who achieved remarkable positions in their career. Few outgoing students as well as 1st year students gave their views about the course and life at CFTRI campus. They also expressed that Industrial exposure could make them more confident.
Director in his address to the students congratulated them for completing the course in flying colors. He said the course offered by CSIR-CFTRI is unique and one should be lucky to get admission in this prestigious institution. He said mere attaining supervisory skill may not be of much use, but solving an industrial problem or inventing a product will add value to their professional career and there by the name of the institution will be high. Practicing technology is not creating technology he opined. He advised to the outgoing students to aim high and keep the head on the shoulder and accept the challenges of future food technology. In order to develop an all-round personality as well as managerial skills of the student, he announced that present curriculum may undergo revision by 2015. Plan is also on anvil for getting more industrial fellowships to the final year students which would ultimately solve the problem of placement. He also encouraged students to join for Ph.D. programme at R&D institutions as well. Finally, he wished all the very best to the outgoing student and thanked all the office bearers of the association.
Dr. G. Vijayalakshmi, HRD Coordinator and IFTTC Hostel warden praised the achievements of outgoing students and said their bond with the Alma Mater needs to be very strong. Upon the request of the Director, mementoes were distributed to all the outgoing M.Sc. (Food Tech) students by Dr. Vijayalakshmi and Dr. Varadaraj. Dr. T.C. Sindhu Kanya wrapped up by thanking the Director Prof. Ram Rajasekharan and everyone present during the farewell function. Few photographs taken during the occasion can be viewed below.
